Institutional partnership

Research at scale: ~100 papers a quarter, 80% published

Supporting an academic institution across design, analysis, writing and journal selection — at a volume that only works with a structured workflow.

In one paragraph

We established a long-term research collaboration with an academic institution to support the development of approximately 100 research papers per quarter, covering study design, statistical analysis, manuscript preparation, scientific editing and journal selection. Through a structured workflow and rigorous quality control, 80% of completed manuscripts were published in peer-reviewed journals. The engagement developed into an ongoing institutional partnership based on consistency, scientific quality and reliable delivery at scale.

The brief

An academic institution needed research output at a volume no individual statistician or freelance editor could sustain, without letting quality drift as volume rose. The work spanned every stage of the research process: study design, statistical analysis, manuscript preparation, scientific editing and journal selection.

Why volume is a methodological problem

Scale is not simply more of the same work. At roughly 100 manuscripts a quarter, the failure modes change:

  • Inconsistent methodology between projects becomes visible to editors who see several submissions from the same institution.
  • Ad-hoc analysis choices cannot be defended when the same reviewer sees a different approach to the same design.
  • Errors compound silently when no one independently checks the numbers.
  • Journal selection becomes a bottleneck, and mismatched submissions burn months per paper.

The workflow we built

The partnership runs on a structured pipeline rather than project-by-project improvisation:

  • Standardised methodology by study type. A defined analytical approach for each design, so equivalent studies are analysed equivalently and any deviation is a deliberate, documented decision.
  • Staged quality gates. Design review, data validation, analysis, independent verification, and scientific editing each have a named owner and a defined completion criterion.
  • Independent numerical review. Every primary result is reproduced from the cleaned dataset by a second analyst before it reaches the manuscript.
  • Reporting-guideline compliance built in. CONSORT, STROBE, PRISMA and TRIPOD checklists are completed as the manuscript is written, not retrofitted at submission.
  • Journal strategy as a distinct step. Scope, methodology fit, audience, indexing and realistic acceptance likelihood assessed per paper rather than by habit.

The outcome

80% of completed manuscripts were published in peer-reviewed journals, sustained across quarters rather than achieved once. The collaboration developed into an ongoing institutional partnership on the strength of consistency, scientific quality and reliable delivery at volume.

The durable result is not the publication count. It is that the institution now has a repeatable process — one where the quality of any given paper does not depend on which individual happened to work on it.
