Research mentorship
Some researchers who completed our mentorship went on to publish more than ten papers in a single year. That is the outcome we are aiming at: capability, not dependency.
A structured research mentorship covers the full arc of independent research: developing a specific and answerable research question, writing a protocol, searching the literature systematically, designing and managing a dataset, choosing and running the right statistical analysis, interpreting output honestly, writing each section of a manuscript, selecting a journal, and responding to reviewers. It is taught on the mentee's own project rather than on a teaching dataset, so the end of the programme is both a completed paper and a researcher who can do it again without help.
What this service includes
- Project-based learning
- Every session works on your own research project. You finish the programme with a completed manuscript, not a certificate.
- Research question development
- How to move from a clinical observation to a question that is specific, feasible and worth answering.
- Protocol & design
- Writing a protocol, choosing a design, justifying a sample size, and pre-specifying an analysis plan.
- Literature searching
- Building reproducible searches, managing references, and reading methods sections critically.
- Data management
- Designing a dataset that is analysable from the start, and cleaning one that is not.
- Statistical analysis
- Choosing the right test and model, checking assumptions, and — most importantly — interpreting output without overclaiming.
- Scientific writing
- Section-by-section writing, structuring an argument, and matching claims to evidence.
- Publication & peer review
- Journal selection, submission, and how to answer a reviewer without conceding what is defensible.
What you receive
- Structured programme mapped to your goals
- Regular one-to-one or small-group sessions
- Your own project taken to submission
- Written feedback on every draft
- Templates, checklists and analysis scripts you keep
- Ongoing access to your mentor during the programme
Independently verified before it reaches you
Every primary result is reproduced from the cleaned dataset by a second statistician before delivery, and you receive the analysis scripts so any number in the manuscript can be traced back to a line of code and a row of data.
